Replacing an Electrical Outlet or Switch
Whether you are a homeowner or a commercial property owner, there will come a time when a light switch will wear out and need to be replaced. While you can attempt a “DIY” project with parts from your local hardware store, it is not recommended, as there is a risk of electrocution as well as the potential to cause damage to the electrical system in your home or business. Hufnagel Electric has the tools and the experience to ensure that your outlet is properly replaced.
Adding an Electrical Outlet or Switch
There may come a point where you require an additional outlet in your home or business. When it comes to adding an electrical outlet or switch, it is important that it be done by a licensed professional. Where electricity is involved, it must be done properly to avoid poor wire connections, overloaded circuits and faulty grounding.
Electrical outlets come in several different types, depending on the wiring as well as the voltage. A standard outlet is usually a 15-amp receptacle for most common appliances, which supplies 120 volts.
Ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) are placed in bathrooms, kitchens, or any other place that could have wet or humid conditions. These electrical outlets consist of narrow slits and a single semi-circular hole. The GFCI is designed to monitor any imbalances in the current as it flows from hot to neutral; should the current begin to flow into the ground, the breaker in the GFCI switches off and kills the electricity.
Some appliances may require dedicated circuits. Please visit our Dedicated Circuits Page for more details.
Control Your Lighting With Dimmer Switches
A good way to change the ambiance of a room is to control the lighting through a dimmer switch. With a dimmer switch, it is easy to set the mood or change the atmosphere in any room, allowing you to precisely dial in the desired amount of light.
